Lots of original design proposals and original construction designs from outside of China have been sent to HydrOu Team involving with gradation of rockfill material, application of soft stones , treatment of thick alluvium, design in seismic area, etc. Many technical problems have their universality to be discussed. Many facts show that some conventional practices exist in current construction of CFRDs, which have been superseded in China because of potential safety hazard to the built CFRD dams. Modern CFRD dams to be constructed with update CFRD design and construction concepts would shorten the construction period, resulting in greater investment reduction. The best solution for dam builders to response the current global economic crisis is to cut down the investment for the proposed dam projects or CFRD dams under way by shortening construction period.
